About
I’m a Clinical Psychologist specialising in complex trauma and emotional neglect.
I also have a particular interest in complex grief and ambiguous loss.
I have a decade of experience working as a clinical psychologist across public, private,
and university settings.
I am an AHPRA Board-approved supervisor and thoroughly enjoy supporting clinicians in their work through a relational and reflexive practice lens.
I am an Accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner and have completed supervisor training through ANZACAT.
Dr Ariana Krynen
Clinical Psychologist
I am currently only accepting enquiries for clinical supervision, consultation, and training.
Supervision and Consultation
I provide clinical supervision and consultation for individuals and groups.
This includes consultation for those wanting to deepen their understanding and skills in trauma, dissociation, grief, and emotional neglect. I also have a focus on helping clinicians navigate transference and countertransference through a reflexive and relational practice lens.
I have a strong interest in supporting clinicians to develop and strengthen:
Reflective and reflexive practice
Relational and formulation skills
Professional identity, and
Sustained wellbeing in our work
I am an AHPRA Board-approved supervisor and can provide principal and secondary supervision to registrars completing their Clinical Psychology endorsement.
I have completed training as a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) supervisor through ANZACAT.
Training and Workshops
I offer professional development training and workshops for clinicians on relational practice, trauma, and complex grief.
I was a Casual Academic at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where I worked as a course convenor and guest lecturer, developing teaching content for undergraduate and postgraduate psychology courses.
Alongside my academic teaching, I’ve delivered in-house training and professional development for a range of clinical settings.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is authentic, relational, collaborative, and trauma-informed.
I use a whole-person approach, acknowledging the importance of systemic, political, cultural, and social factors that impact our lives and wellbeing.
Therapy Modalities
My two predominant therapeutic models are Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
CAT is a relational therapy, which helps people recognise and change patterns which developed in response to early relationships and life experiences.
These patterns can contribute to psychological distress and shape how people experience themselves and others.
I integrate these modalities with ego state and structural dissociation (aka “parts work”), somatic, attachment, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural, and compassion-focused approaches.
